Why you should care

Because this cold case has puzzled cops, journalists and one TV-maker for decades.

In her recent piece “Whatever Happened to Eddy Crane?” OZY Deputy Editor Kate Crane chronicled her five-year effort to find out what became of her father, who disappeared from his trucking business in Curtis Bay, Baltimore, in 1987. The case, which inspired an episode of David Simon’s Homicide and was mentioned in The Wire, remains unsolved.

This past week, Here & Now’s Robin Young spoke with Crane about her reasons for ripping off a complicated scab, how the televising of a tragedy affected her family and the murkiness of “truth.” Listen below.
