In Case You Missed It...
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Because you made it happen, and we’re so glad you did.
By OZY Editors
It’s been a thrilling week for the entire team here at OZY. Thanks for being part of it! According to our data so far on the most-viewed stories, you’ve got eclectic taste – just as we suspected.
Number one for the week was our Acumen story about how we in the U.S. could learn a thing or two from Iceland and its attitude toward motherhood, marriage and the work force. OZY collaborated with Newsbound to present the facts in an animated slideshow about how Iceland values cohabitation over marriage. Read Unwed Mothers in Iceland.
Our Flashback to the last days of disco also caught your fancy this week, with a reflection on Grace Jones’ anthem ”Pull Up to the Bumper.” Maybe you were among those who, like author Eugene S. Robinson’s own mother, did a double take and asked, “You’re saying that song’s about what now?” Embrace the innuendo when you read Pulling Up to the Bumper, Baby.
Readers took time out to consider what’s next on America’s political landscape, in our story exploring the idea of another Bush White House. Our C-Note suggests that not only could Jeb Bush be luring over Democratic supporters, but he may be the candidate to reposition his party. Check out Read Our Lips: Keep an Eye on Jeb Bush.
We were beyond excited to see one of our videos go international this week: a Good Sh*t story about the Paraguayan tea tradition, tereré, was picked up by major news outlets in the South American country and propelled our video views to 10,600 at last count. Pretty hot for our first week! Watch the video here and read more about the communal tea drink.
Finally, we are flattered to report that you spent a lot of time looking at our bio pages and getting a good look at the OZY tribe. We love that you want to get to know us! We work hard to bring you a fantastic, can’t-get-it-anywhere-else experience, and we have plenty of fun doing it. Keep in touch and let us know how we’re doing.
See you next week!
