In the northern hemisphere the days are getting shorter, our minutes of daily sunlight attenuating, little by little, day by day. Sigh. The good news is that it is ice cream season. Read more here.
Speaking of ice cream trucks and awfulness, there was also the years-long episode known as Scotland’s Ice Cream Wars. Throughout the 1980s, Glasgow’s ice cream vans became mobile fronts for rival criminal gangs selling stuff like cigarettes, hard drugs and stolen stereos. And then there was a murder. Read more here.
Palate cleanse on artisanal, manually churned SoCal ice cream here before you take three minutes to hear maybe the best ice cream story ever told: The Enduring Virtue of Eddie Murphy’s “Ice Cream Man.”
