West Bengal

The home of Rabindranath Tagore, the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in literature in 1913, West Bengal is famed for its rich culture and culinary offerings, especially seafood and sweets. Today, the state that was once India's industrial hub is in steady economic decline, with Kolkata's population going down as youth leave West Bengal.
