The Gaza Strip and the West Bank constitute the territories that much of the world recognizes as legitimately belonging to a future Palestinian state. Large parts of these territories are today occupied by Israel, but 134 countries have diplomatic relations with the Palestinian authorities that formally govern them. Today synonymous for much of the world with war and suffering, these lands are home to historic cities like Bethlehem and Jericho. The challenge: building a future.
