Odisha is the most popular nesting ground for the olive ridley sea turtle, the smallest and most abundant sea turtle species in the world. It's also home to the world's second-largest coastal lagoon, the Chilika Lake. But for all its ecological diversity and mineral riches -- a quarter of India's iron ore and a third of its bauxite reserves are in Odisha -- the state is among the poorest in the country.
