Long on the frontlines of the British-French scramble for West Africa, Cameroon remains divided on linguistic lines six decades after independence. It has Africa's longest-serving president in Paul Biya, in power since 1982. But the country is also home to breathtaking waterfalls, ecotourism spots and pristine beaches. The current African soccer champions, Cameroon was the first from the continent to reach the men's World Cup quarterfinals in 1990.
