WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Because you can see the data for yourself.

Sorry, baseball, but pigskin has been America’s national pastime for a while now — when you consider average attendance and television ratings, anyway. But football has taken its share of hits lately, from player health to compensation to political activism.
As the college football national championship arrives and the NFL playoffs begin, OZY has teamed up with our friends at SurveyMonkey to delve into America’s views on some of the biggest controversies surrounding its No. 1 sport.
This online survey was conducted Dec. 8–11 among a national sample of 1,726 adults ages 18 and older, including 1,223 people who said they are football fans or watch the Super Bowl. Respondents were selected from the nearly 3 million people who take surveys on the SurveyMonkey platform each day. Data has been weighted for age, race, sex, education and geography using census data to reflect the demographic composition of the United States. The modeled error estimate for this survey is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The full crosstabs can be viewed here. We also welcome suggestions for future intriguing topics to poll at polls@ozy.com.
The full results are below. In some cases, the numbers do not add up to 100 percent due to rounding, or if respondents could choose more than one answer.
