WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Because sometimes it pays not to listen to your father.

Since opening its doors in 2006, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford, New York, has earned some serious love. The microbrewery is a favorite on the beer circuit — and has even pulled in a few gold medals from the Great American Beer Festival.
The brewery is a bit of a father-son enterprise: Son Scott Vaccaro founded the business, and his dad, Vince, joined later as CFO. While the pair are as close as peas in a pod (or hops in a yard), beer was an early point of contention.
When Scott told his dad of his dreams of becoming a brewer (disrupting the original plan that he would follow in Vince’s footsteps and enter the world of finance), Vince’s initial response was: “I really wanted to strangle him at that time.”
Luckily, he refrained, and the story of Captain Lawrence was allowed to continue.
