5,200 Troops Being Sent to The Southern US Border
The Defense Department is sending the increased number of troops – 800 troops were originally being sent and were en route Monday – to harden the southern border in preparation for the caravan of migrants, which is making its way through Mexico and toward the U.S. The remaining troops will reach the border by the end of the week and in total they join the 2,000 National Guard already there. Troops will reportedly be armed. The move comes around a week before the midterm elections.
