Hawaii Beats South Korea for Little League World Title
“Enjoy the moment. But stay humble.” So said manager Gerald Oda after his Honolulu team beat South Korea 3-0 yesterday in this year’s Little League World Series Championship in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Ka’olu Holt pitched a complete game, giving up only two singles and striking out eight to help secure Hawaii’s third world title — and the first for a team from Honolulu. The victory, which drew praise from Hawaii native President Barack Obama, may help boost the spirits of a state recently rocked by Hurricane Lane.
