Iraqi PM Declares Victory in Mosul

A day after he arrived in the former Islamic State stronghold of Mosul, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi formally announced his country’s troops have taken back the key city in northern Iraq. The recapture of Mosul, which came after nine months of what some commanders said was the most intense urban combat since the Second World War, is a big blow to ISIS. But the war against the terror group is far from over: many now anticipate the militants will shift their focus to suicide bombings rather than attempting to maintain a caliphate.
