    Brazil’s Senate Votes to Put Suspended President on Trial

    She’s one step closer to the door. Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has already been suspended from office, and now the country’s upper house has voted 59 to 21 in favor of continuing with impeachment proceedings over alleged budgetary corruption. That means that two weeks from now, just a few days after the end of the Olympic Games, Rousseff will have a five-day trial — and a two-thirds majority could remove her from office, leaving current interim president Michel Temer in power until 2018’s elections.
