While Google Street View now covers an impressive swathe of the globe, the image-based mapping technology usually relies on roads accessible to vehicles. The Faroe Islands have remained off the grid — until now. Local shepherds and engineers have coordinated efforts on Sheep View 360, strapping solar-powered cameras to wandering sheep to create 360-degree images of the 18 islands from the animals’ point of view.
