About This Podcast

From the BBC and OZY comes a fresh perspective on the debate about America’s future as a nation and its relation to the world during the 2020 US election. November's election in the United States will be taking place at a time when the country is going through unprecedented social and economic upheavals. It is not just the presidency that's at stake, voters will be electing a third of the senate, an entirely new House of Representatives, and thirteen governors. Thousands of Americans have lost their lives to the Covid-19 pandemic. The economy is in recession. Thousands of Americans have taken to the streets demanding social justice. This race will determine the future of the country — and possibly the world — for much longer than four years. The BBC’s Katty Kay from World News America and OZY co-founder and CEO Carlos Watson discuss themes around how America is reshaping its future. Covering topics including identity, racial bias and politics, issues are discussed in the context of an election cycle overshadowed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Together Katty and Carlos invite each other and their guests to rethink America and how America compares to the rest of the world. Each week the show will examine a theme or issue through probing and wide-ranging interviews with a diverse range of guests from America and beyond.
