TJ Hunter would almost certainly rather be cooking. And he has been known to work some magic with a cast iron skillet and a slab of butter. But when the Virginia native joined OZY as its VP of Audience, he put his skillet aside (during work hours) and moved to California to cook up a whole new type of magic in our Mountain View kitchen.
TJ loves marketing because he loves people, and that’s one of many reasons he is perfectly suited to head up OZY’s efforts to build its own growing community of addicts and evangelists across the globe and across a number of digital marketing channels.
He honed his audience development skills during more than 16 years in digital marketing, including as the senior director of consumer marketing at Rosetta Stone, where he helped the language-learning pioneer master a new way to communicate: mobile.
Off the grid, one of TJ’s favorite ways to communicate is via song, particularly covering the great Loretta Lynn. So if you see a tall, Black man with glasses and an infectious grin belting out “Coal Miner’s Daughter” at your local karaoke bar this evening, you can be sure you’ve found TJ — working yet another audience.
We’re just glad he spends his daytime hours working ours.
