Marion Cunningham has always been drawn to telling stories that make an impact. Sometimes that impact is on her. As a producer for Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers, she risked her life filming meteorologists in the path of deadly tornadoes. That experience is just one in a wide-ranging career that has included producing shows for Netflix (Girls Incarcerated) and MTV (True Life), among many others. In 2012, the Chapman University graduate devoted her skills to Barack Obama’s re-election campaign and created videos that told the stories of citizens affected by his policies. She recently finished her first feature documentary, This Might Hurt, about chronic pain.
Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Marion enjoys hot yoga, cooking, traveling and toppling the patriarchy (kidding, kinda). She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and her cat. Now a senior producer in OZY’s New York office, she hopes to continue to tell stories that inspire change — especially ones that elevate overlooked voices or that shine a light on challenging subjects — and to do so in a way that humanizes and brings people together.
