Josh grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before trekking out to Portland, Oregon, to earn his degree in American studies at Reed College. He’s a huge history nerd (his favorite shirt says “I [HEART] HISTORY” in big, block letters), with a desire to learn everything he can about the world around him. As an undergrad, he was a reporter and editor of The Reed College Quest, where he worked on news features and investigations. He also played for the college’s rugby club.
Josh took his reporting bona fides with him to the Columbia School of Journalism, where he was a fellow in the Toni Stabile Investigative center. As a Stabile fellow, Josh was awarded the Fred M. Hechinger Award for education reporting. It was at grad school that Josh found a passion for all things audio. He loves the intimacy of podcasts and the way they can really tell stories through the voices of those living them.
Josh is so excited to be doing what he loves as an audio producer for OZY. When he’s not conducting interviews or writing scripts, he loves all things basketball (Go, Blazers!), cooking (Go, Julia Child!) and musical theater (Go, chorus lines!). Even though he lives in New York City, he is still passionate about getting out into nature as often as possible. Josh lives in Brooklyn with his partner and an adorable puppy named Ruby, whom he loves dearly, even when she eats his socks.
