Born and raised in New Jersey — home of Bon Jovi, beaches and bad jokes — Anna Davies is proud to still call her home state home. Although she resides in Jersey City, New Jersey and works out of OZY’s Manhattan offices, her happy places are Santa Teresa, Costa Rica; Inis Mor, Ireland and Split, Croatia.
Anna spent the first decade of her career working as an editor and journalist, with positions at Redbook, Cosmo, Refinery29 and the New York Post. She was also a writer for Alloy Entertainment, penning Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries novels as a ghostwriter on nights and weekends. (Her current record for writing a 50,000-word manuscript is 10 days.) She has also written several young adult novels under her own name.
Fueled by the adrenaline that comes with telling a good story, Anna pivoted to working on brand strategy and content marketing, and she has spent the last five years working with companies and clients including Victoria’s Secret, Haven Life, Citi, OkCupid, Johnson & Johnson and others. One of her proudest moments was being chosen out of 16,000 entries for one of 24 spots on Amtrak’s inaugural writer’s residency program — a program where writers get to write on a long-distance train trip — although she has still not cashed in on her prize. Saving up that PTO!
