Your Future, According to a Preeminent Fortuneteller
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Because the best way to predict the future is to create your own.
By Leslie Nguyen-Okwu
It’s possible that 2017 will be your breakout year — or the start of a terribly tumultuous one. Just ask Lee Shing Chak, a world-class fortuneteller who combines the ancient art of feng shui and the modern practice of statistics to divine what the future holds. In the coming year, Lee warns of a global conflict, not long after New Year’s, and another between June and August. So those who plan to travel or have international investments should be “be extra careful” during these months, Lee says.
Should you doubt his methods, the 47-year-old has dealt with three decades of naysayers and points to his long record of calling shots. He predicted the spread of Ebola, the death of Osama bin Laden, a nuclear crisis in Japan, the winner of the 2014 World Cup and the return of SARS, all down to the specific date. Now, with the Year of the Rooster around the corner, his next big prediction is you.
Rooster (2017, 2005, 1993, 1981, 1969, 1957)
All the stars are aligned for you, so make the most of your newfound fortune. If you have a big idea or project that you’ve been holding on to, now is the time to bring it to life. You will face some monumental changes as well, perhaps a new job or a major responsibility. Female roosters might fare better than male roosters in terms of good luck, but all in all, 2017 will be smooth sailing.
Dog (2006, 1994, 1982, 1970, 1958)
This year will be fairly busy for you, with little time to relax and unwind. Your career, wealth, health and romantic entanglements will be better than others’ in 2017, but these aspects of your life may also all come to an abrupt halt. Expect a sudden illness or a serious natural disaster. To protect your health and bring balance to your body, try cupping or acupuncture.
Pig (2007, 1995, 1983, 1971, 1959)
This may be the Year of the Rooster, but the pig can look forward to some of the best fortunes in 2017. There are still challenges ahead, from health to finances, but friends will come through to support you in your times of need. A lucky year like 2017 is also a great time to tackle new challenges, whether that means exercise, a big move or a transformation at work.
Rat (2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960)
Be wary: Rocky waters lie ahead. This year, the rat must be mentally prepared. That’s your strong suit as the most detail-oriented animal of the bunch. When you’re mentally prepared, you can ride out any earthquake and every aftershock. Be ready to take risks and accept the unknowns. Don’t forget to open your arms to welcome the newcomers who will soon enter your life, whether a new co-worker or even a pet. They will bring good fortune, but only if you embrace them.
Ox (2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, 1961)
Your personal image and social status will change drastically this year — for the better. You will have a top-down transformation and you will experience a 180-degree change in the way you look. But pay careful attention to omens like traffic accidents or missed appointments, as you may run out of luck. The first month in Year of the Rooster will be your most auspicious; take advantage. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar environment any time during the rest of the year, keep your guard up.
Tiger (2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962)
Your year will be full of breakthroughs, thanks to the Imperial Star, which will shine brighter this year and help boost your reputation. Even so, you will likely face some unexpected trouble — July will be the most stressful month. Stay on your feet and remain nimble, as the tiger does. While fierceness and combativeness are second nature to you, remember to remain calm, or you will fall into regret and sorrow. You will also encounter fleeting opportunities this year, including travel to a remote land or the return of an old friend.
Rabbit (2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963)
The Peach Star will bring you favorable luck in 2017. You will have a stable living environment, and you will kindle a new romance. But you might also come down with food poisoning or another common ailment. A detox will be important for you this year. You might also have an unstable boss or unruly customer or client in your professional life, so be wary and plan accordingly.
Dragon (2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964)
This year will bring important changes for the dragon — indeed, a new phase of life, whether at work or at home. In the face of the coming adjustment period, dragons should carefully consider their options and respond strategically. The changes will be swift and unpredictable, so dragons should move step by step and exercise prudence.
Snake (2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965)
This year the snake will help others reach their potential, which in turn will help you reach yours. Volunteer as much as you can. But bad luck may also be in your cards: Snakes run the risk of medical surgery, obesity and skin infections. If you have any unresolved ailments, take care of them now with your doctor. This is a high-risk year for your health.
Horse (2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966)
Brace yourself: In 2017, almost all horses, regardless of age, sex or social status, will fall into a swirling column of grievance and injustice. A simple misunderstanding in the workplace may balloon into a crisis for which you are unfairly blamed — redemption will come in the winter, but until then, you may struggle to stay afloat. Prioritize your health, both mind and body: Practice meditation, stay physically active and maintain a balanced diet.
Goat (2015, 2003, 1991, 1979, 1967)
You will stumble upon lasting love this year, so open your heart to the possibility of a new flame if you don’t already have a long-term partner. You may face challenges, but you will persevere if you are friendly and kind to others. And try to be financially savvy, as you may run into money troubles when you least expect it.
Monkey (2016, 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968)
With a meteor on the horizon, your first half of the year will be difficult financially, with a possibility of bankruptcy. Reach out to your community and seek help, as you will most certainly be in distress. Be strong under pressure, and stay humble. Struggle is what you make of it, and if you survive, you will come out stronger than the rest.
