And now we’re looking ahead to scale our audience to become a household name. 

We are looking for a skilled full-stack marketer who can help us: i) make OZY a household name among curious Millennials and Gen X-ers (brand awareness); ii) drive conversions and subscriptions at a rapid pace (performance marketing); and (iii) drive monetization strategies. 

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE DOING:

  • Overall Leadership Own the vision, strategy, budget and execution for all marketing initiatives across OZY’s platform – editorial, podcasts, TV, events — to build brand awareness and drive conversions.
  • Storytelling –  Develop and refine the strategic narrative and positioning to power marketing, sales, recruiting and fundraising. Superior track record developing strategic marketing assets (narratives, positioning, product names, product descriptions) and sales decks. You MUST be able to communicate OZY’s vision to diverse audiences, and to span messaging from high-level value propositions to feature-level product differentiation. 
  • Product Marketing Develop an encyclopedic knowledge of the end user, their needs, and how OZY changes their lives for the better — with both a qualitative and quantitative rigor. Work closely with product and editorial teams to define new product offerings that deepen user engagement and create new revenue streams.
  • Exponential User Acquisition Develop and own the acquisition and retention strategies across paid, owned and earned to drive rapid user growth.  Drive campaigns for all of our product offerings, to secure OZY’s place as curious people’s first and favorite source of news, information and culture.
  • Brand Awareness Ensure that a majority of curious millennials and Gen Xers know about OZY by working with OZY’s publicity and marketing teams to create efficient communication in the marketplace around who OZY is and what OZY does.
  • Budget Optimize a brand and marketing budget across digital and traditional channels to maximize return and performance – be lean and scrappy.
  • Measurement – Inform and oversee a comprehensive approach to marketing measurement. 
  • Team Leadership Build the internal and external teams to support the strategies for now and for future growth. Most importantly, mentor and motivate the team into a well-oiled operation, coach them on how to successfully partner cross-functionally to quickly and efficiently execute on existing and future projects.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 10+ years of successfully leading strategic marketing campaigns in a rapidly growing digital media and/or consumer-facing businesses.  
  • Prior startup experience is a MUST.  You need to be a growth hacker – not a safe strategist – and be able to work on a lean budget and be able to demonstrate success as an executional leader of a standalone brand. 
  • Strong track record in both brand building and performance marketing.
  • Must be *well-organized*, creative and open, hands on (scrappy), very proactive, positive, and most importantly, collaborative. We win as a team.
  • Be based in Silicon Valley (or willing to relocate immediately). This person will be a critical part of our Mountain View based team, working directly with the CEO and management team.

DIRECTOR OF AUDIENCE GROWTH MARKETING

We are looking for a highly analytical, creative and hands-on Audience Growth Marketer with strong product and operational experience and a clear track record of driving exponential audience and community growth. They will lead the strategy and execution for audience development, engagement and growth across all OZY platforms and manage key marketing channels on a lean budget.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE DOING:

  • Drive customer acquisition, engagement and retention across paid, owned and earned media.
  • Own cross channel media strategy and campaigns across a variety of digital and offline channels.
  • Use superior analytical skills to review our web, app, social and email data, draw insights from analysis and develop strategic growth plans to drive exponential audience growth while deepening engagement with our core audience.
  • Lead and manage strategic usability and A/B tests for our digital properties.
  • Strategize and implement optimization tests and processes across our platforms to increase user engagement and strengthen the end-to-end customer funnel. 
  • Ensure lean budget is effectively allocated across channels to optimize for conversion. Define and validate core KPIs (CAC, ROI, retention, LTV).
  • Communicate campaign metrics with management and track KPIs on a recurring basis to ensure campaigns are performing strongly.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical growth-oriented marketing role at a tech startup or a digital consumer brand.
  • Proven track record of growing audiences while increasing lifetime value of a customer and declining customer acquisition costs.
  • Deep experience with web and email analytics tools and platforms
  • Ability to analyze data and present actionable insights through data visualizations and clear narratives.
  • Experience working at a startup or a fast paced growth environment.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

OZY is looking for a creative, organized, and ambitious Social Media Manager to engage and expand our social efforts, with a focus on emerging platforms, social video, and growing a highly engaged audience of dedicated fans.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE DOING:

  • Drive rapid and ambitious growth in OZY’s core audience of highly engaged consumers across multiple platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Drive the direction of OZY’s content strategy and voice across social platforms
  • Manage and optimize complex paid social campaigns across multiple platforms
  • Develop strategy and creative solutions to drive repeat engagement by platform, with a view to both growing OZY’s audience and building OZY’s brand
  • Develop regular analytical performance reports
  • Identify emerging distribution platforms and assist editorial in developing and experimenting with new content execution
  • Work directly with OZY’s editorial staff and develop strategies based on data reports and trend analysis
  • Identify opportunities across all platforms for OZY to expand its brand identity

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 4-6 years experience working in social media or analytics at a news organization or premium brand
  • Proven success and growth experimenting with and exploring new platforms to increase a brand or publication’s social media presence
  • Proven success in optimizing paid social media campaigns with large budget to drive efficient engagement
  • Sound knowledge of Google Analytics, Facebook Power Editor, YouTube data (previous knowledge of data reporting and analysis is a major plus)
  • Excellent copywriting skills – ability to write concise, creative copy that is optimized by platform. 
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to communicate strategy and results effectively internally, as well as the ability to engage with customers in the right way across social platforms.
  • Graphic design experience not required but would be beneficial

EMAIL GROWTH MANAGER

OZY is looking for a strategic, organized and results-driven email marketing professional who will own and execute email marketing strategy across all properties. OZY has a hyper-engaged fanbase of over 3 million who subscribe to our daily and weekly emails and the Email Growth Marketing Manager will be focused on aggressively growing and retaining this audience. They will also be tasked with creating and executing email marketing campaigns that drive audience growth and revenue for all OZY channels and products including ticket sales for OZY events and ecommerce.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE DOING:

  • Partner with the Editorial and Branded Content teams to develop digital roadmap and executional planning across all email marketing channels (acquisition, onboarding, retention, re-engagement and brand extensions).
  • Partner with Creative and Marketing Operations teams to develop engaging customer marketing materials, applying best practices and engagement data to continually improve ongoing strategy and drive both audience and revenue growth for all OZY channels.
  • Analyse current email marketing campaigns and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee marketing email process from conception through deployment.
  • Write copy and populate creative content for all marketing, co-brand and partnership emails using HTML.
  • Manage trigger email campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle to maximize sales.
  • Carry out segmentation of the database and implement remarketing strategies.
  • Optimize campaign effectiveness using A/B Testing to drive lift. 
  • Conduct MVT Testing on email marketing campaigns.
  • Track and report on email campaigns in order to guide improvements.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • An entrepreneurial self starter, who is results-driven, focused hyper-analytical and passionate about data, testing, metrics, and continuous improvement. You prefer the left lane – and move fast in testing new ideas and concepts to drive results.
  • Demonstrable experience managing email marketing campaigns in (Cordial or other ESP).
  • Experienced in analyzing and cleansing large amounts of data and able to translate into actionable and profitable marketing plans. 
  • Experienced in audience segmentation and personalization with demonstrable experience of using A/B Multivariates to drive lift. 
  • Able to distill complex data analysis into clear and concise plans; and explain the approach and results without the jargon. 
  • Team-player who thrives in a rapid growth environment which constantly evolves and presents new and exciting challenges every day
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written communication skills; Excellent oral communication skills; Ability to present self professionally and intelligently to internal clients/colleagues
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business or Analytics
  • 4+ years’ experience with email marketing in an agency, entrepreneurial, or corporate setting
  • Advanced user and comfort with: PowerPoint & Excel
  • A working knowledge of HTML/CSS, and familiarity with APIs
