God Save the Drag Queens
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Sometimes we get a little too self-righteous and forget about the important things in life. Like chicken.

The ever-popular RuPaul’s Drag Race premieres its sixth season on Monday, and what better way to honor that than to give a nod to former contestants Willam Belli and Detox?
If you, like us over here at OZY, like a good ol’ infusion of naughtiness in your humor, then allow us to introduce you to DWV, a band consisting of drag queens Detox, Willam Belli and Vicky Vox. (Prudes — cover your eyes, ears and, well, just get over yourselves already because you are missing out. )
If you, like us over here at OZY, like a good ol’ infusion of naughtiness in your humor, then allow us to introduce you to DWV.
Sassy and irreverent DWV made headlines with their parody of “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips, which they turned into ”Chow Down (at Chick-fil-A).” They released the song in 2012 amid the fast-food chain’s antigay controversy and the music video quickly went viral.
The queens sing: ”Someday somebody’s gonna make you wanna gobble up a waffle fry / But no go / Don’t you know Chick-fil-A say / You’ll make the baby Jesus cry” and head into the chorus ”Chow down at Chick-fil-A / Even if you’re gay.”
The video features the trio driving around California in a convertible and standing in the Clueless water fountain, Willam lying down naked surrounded by Chic-Fil-A wrappers, and Detox rapping TLC-style in a hot tub. At the end things get a little racy and the language and visuals are a bit NSFW but the video is pretty damn hilarious and manages to address a crucial topic: Can you eat waffle fries and chicken nuggets and retain your moral stance against bigots? Why, yes, you certainly can. Especially if you are dressed like members of Wilson Phillips.
DWV have since released other popular videos including ”Blurred Bynes ” and ”Boy Is a Bottom ,” their parody of “Girl on Fire” that has received almost 13 million views on YouTube. They just teased a potential new music video on their Facebook page, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
