A Kung Fu School's Littlest Warrior
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
Because this is your next kung fu hero.
In the Central Eastern Chinese Province of Henan lies the Shaolin Temple, home of the famous kung fu monks. More than 50 kung fu schools dot the surrounding countryside, all of which house and train children in the Chinese Art of Wushu.
The Song Mountain Shaolin Exquisite Kung Fu School is one of them, with 500 students ranging in age from 3 to 20. In the past they’d all have been boys, but now 23 girls now call the school home. ChengWu ShuQin, captured in these photos by Leah Nash, is the newest and youngest of the girls. Now she is fighting — both to find her place among the crowd and against homesickness.
