Why you should care

Because the collector in all of us can sometimes get out of hand.

Anthony Hamilton is an OZY essayist and an author. This is part of an ongoing OZY video series of conversations in his Mountain View, California, barbershop.

Americans have a clutter problem — those old magazines you meant to read, that home workout system currently hosting your drying laundry and the cables … oh, so many cables. If left for too long, it can all start to feel overwhelming. Studies indicate that clutter is an increasing stressor in American lives as we continue to fret about keeping everything organized.

How do you keep the mess at bay? And seriously, do you really need that old snowboard? Anthony Hamilton gets real with a few friends in his barbershop. Some dirty laundry comes out, but they don’t let Anthony off the hook, either.
